THE CHALLENGE

Always dark, always raining, always with one of the wagons needing maintenance.  We stopped where we could and lived off what we carried - including the odd beer or two when the situation demanded.  It was challenging, but the more challenging it was the more interesting it became.

BREAKING DOWN

The vehicles, gear boxes and engines needed constant attention.  The landrover were old and had seen plenty of service already, but they had one last journey to go and we nursed them along.  We carried a trailer full of spares and did all of the mechanical work ourselves - some of us clearly better at it than others!

FUEL

Fuel, fuel and more Fuel.  80 litres per wagon, 80 litres in jerrycans, almost 1280 litres of fuel every time we stopped!  We had dollars and we had a credit card - all of which began to deplete more quickly than we wanted...

END OF THE DAY

Another day done, another large distance travelled.  Time to check the wagons over and try and set camp again for the night.  In this case, somewhere in Romania
